HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! :)
Wow. Okay I have no idea what
happened when so I will just share highlights of the past little while and so
forth. :)
YESTERDAY WAS CHRISTMAS! Oh my days,
it was so amazing. What better way to celebrate the birth of Saviour, than by
testifying of him! We woke up and were able to watch Meet the Mormons!! We are
going to be able to show it in the VC starting on January 1st and so we got a
special showing. :) Then we had a missionary breakfast with some of the closer
missionaries. All the public transportation shuts down on Christmas so we
couldn't really go anywhere...haha so we stayed at the chapel and played
Volleyball and just spent time with each-other! Then Elder Hein & Elder
Torbit, and Sister Beck & I borrowed the APs car for the night and visited
some members and then went to the Bishop family's home for dinner and Skype. :)
It was so much fun! They have the funnest three little boys so we just played
games and had a blast. :) Then, when we left Elder Hein said it was a crime
that I haven't seen Big Ben or Buckingham Palace yet, so we took the long way
home and drove past! It was magical because everything was lit up and it was
Christmas. :)
Christmas Eve, we had a VC party at
the Cardall's and that was so fun! Even though I have only been here one
transfer, I feel like I have known these people for years. The bond we have is
strong, and I cannot imagine my life without them. :)
These past weeks have been so busy
but so good. Hard, but good! We were able to see Dean, a recent convert, on
Christmas Eve and that was amazing. We love him so much. He has such an
incredible spirit and is really of on God's choice children. :)
Funny moments of the week. We were
on the bus and I struck up a conversation with the man sitting across from me.
He was Muslim, but very nice. I explained that I was a missionary and we
chatted for a minute. Then he kept saying something about coffee, but I
couldn't understand because his accent was VERY thick. So I just changed the
subject. He was from Morocco, so I asked him what languages he spoke. He said
French so I thought "Hey! I can try and speak a little bit and maybe we
can communicate better that way!" But then he asked me out for coffee, in
French. It dawned on me then that he was hitting on me and he thought that my
initial communication was hitting on him. Hahahaha so I just pretended like I
didn't understand. He then said it again in English and so I told him that we
don't drink coffee. So he asked me out for dinner. He wouldn't give up! Finally
I just ignored what he was saying and started talking about how we teach people
about Jesus Christ and he was welcome to come to church etc...It was really
funny. He also showed me his US Visa? I don't know, there was definitely a bit
of a language barrier haha :) So! Have you ever been asked out for coffee, in
French, by a Muslim, on a bus in London? Because I have...
We had an AMAZING lesson with our
investigator, Zita, on Sunday. She is from China and doesn't quite believe that
God is real yet. So we read 3 Nephi 11 because we really felt like we should.
She understood it all, and really felt the spirit. It was incredible to see her
begin to understand and pray and realize that there is a God. She is the best.
:)
We also had a miracle on Christmas
Eve. Earlier in the day we were watching some District videos, and I told
Sister Beck that I just wanted someone to come up to us and ask how to join our
church or to just be baptised. We laughed (because that really doesn't happen),
but then later that night we were talking to a guy on the bus. He had some
questions, but then after talking for a few minutes, he just asked "So,
how do I join the Mormon church?" We were floored. So we set up a time to
meet with him on Sunday. :) We doesn't live in our area, but still!! It was
AMAZING.
Monday night, the VC hosted a
special Nativity Family night. Elder Ashby built a stable and we all took cute
group pictures. Sister Ohman had put together incredible costumes so that was
so much fun. There was food and singing and dancing and it was just a lot of
fun. :)
I don't really know what else to
say, except that I love England! I am so in love with it here. I don't really
remember what life in America is like. I was also told yesterday that my Utahn
accent has already softened a little bit and I am starting to actually
pronounce my t's. So we shall see haha. :)
Well, I am emailing again on Monday
because P-Days will go back to normal, and I talked to you yesterday on Skype,
so I'm not really sure what else to say haha. :) Except this; the Church is
true. I know it with all of my heart. It is incredible to me how much I have
already grown and changed and progressed, in the six weeks I have been here.
President told us that the enabling power of the Atonement has the ability to
change a person's very nature. It is true. I've seen it in myself, and I see it
everyday here. I love this opportunity I have to serve. I am especially
grateful for the Visitors' Centre. This place is a sacred centre and miracles
happen everyday. It is incredible to see how we will study something in the
morning, for no reason other than we feel like we should, and then we end up
talking to someone who came into the VC about exactly what we studied. Miracles
happen here and I am so grateful. :) I love you all so much. I feel your
prayers everyday and am so grateful for you all. :) Happy Christmas and New
Year! :)
Love always,
Sister Moody
