Oh my days, this week? Insane. But
probably my favorite of my mission so far!
First let me tell you about
Monday...it was p-day, so we tried to hit up our favourite pub (Slug and
Lettuce) but they were to full, so we found some little Chinese place in China
town and ate there. After casually strolling past the Book of Mormon musical
venue, we went back to our flat for a we little nap.
The AP's called us and
asked if we could have 3 extra sisters who were being transferred, stay at our
flat for the night. (Our flat is really close to the chapel/mission office) So
we headed off to the chapel to pick them up! We got them and then decided to go
on a split. So Sister Beck and Sister Cooper stayed to teach our recent convert
Dean, while Sister Schumann (from Germany!) and I headed out to contact a
less-active, and then just find and street contact. I was incredibly nervous.
You see, street contacting has been very difficult for me. I will feel like I
have the courage to stop someone, but as soon as I try to, I freeze. Or I psych
myself out. It's been a huge struggle for me. But Monday night, something
clicked. It's like my heart finally opened and let the Lord take over. My
prayers were answered as I began to stop and talk to people. The words came,
and it was fun! My confidence level boosted and it was no longer scary! Something
changed within me, and I finally learned how to let the Lord take over and
guide me. We ended up getting one new investigator and quite a few potentials!
It was AMAZING. Miracles happen when you learn to let go of your fears and
insecurities, and put 100% of your trust in the Lord.
Tuesday, even more
miracles happened! We went to try and contact some former investigators, but
ended up just finding and street contacting in Ladbroke Grove. We were walking
along and passed some guy with his headphones in and head down. As soon as we
passed him, Sister Beck turned to me and said "I think I know him."
So, we turned around and ran after him! Turns out we didn't know him...but he
was so interested in what we had to say! His name is Nima, and he is from Iran.
He kept talking about how He knew that God was there and he was supposed to be
in the UK for a reason, and we were just nodding and blown away! So we invited
him to church and he said yes!! He came on Sunday and we were able to talk to
him more about the Book of Mormon. It was incredible. His English isn't 100%,
but they way he was explaining his questions and what he was feeling and
understanding from the scriptures was amazing. It is amazing the prepared
people the Lord puts in our paths when we simply carry out our plans and let
the Lord take over.
Wednesday, I had my
first tracting experience! Hahh.....lot's of people thought we were Jehovah
Witnesses, but it was still a good experience. :)
Thursday is when the
real fun began...We woke up and realized that it was really cold...and that
there was no hot water....our boiler broke and so we had no heat or anything!
And our flat is not insulated very well so it was FREEZING.
We called the office, and Elder Davis and Elder Cardall came to look at it while we were away. They fixed it and then left, but when we got back that night it had broken again. So we slept with as many layers as we could! Friday night President gave us permission to spend the night at Sister Ferrel and Sister Hug's flat so that we could shower and be warm. Saturday, the landlord and electrician came by to look. They said it was fixable but wouldn't be fixed until Monday! But they did give us two nice space heaters. So for the past two nights we have all been sleeping in one room, with the space heaters on, and a bajillion blankets. It has been quite the adventure!! It was a lot of fun, but now all is fixed and I can't wait for a nice warm shower. :)
Well! We rang in the new year in the
most exciting of ways!
We went to bed at 10:30 and woke up at 6:10. :)
On our
morning run though...we saw a drunk man on his bike. That was pretty
sad/entertaining! We also saw a....FOX! It was so cool!! It was just running
along in the park. :)
Well, I absolutely love missionary
life. I know that this is where I am needed and that as we give ourselves to His
work, miracles will happen. When it rains, it pours. When we we open our
hearts, the Lord will take over and let the blessings in, but when we close our
hearts, then exact opposite happens. I know that as we give our lives to the
service of our Heavenly Father, we will be able to become the best versions of
ourselves. I love being a missionary, and I leave this with you in the name of
Jesus Christ, amen.
I love you all! Thank you so much
for your prayers and support. :)
Love always,
Sister Moody
