Greetings from across the pond!
Okay, so the first thing I want to say is how much I LOVE
England! The end. I am in love with it here.
Okay! So, all is well here. Rainy, cold, beautiful, wet. :)
Really, I am loving the weather. It makes me so happy. :) Except when I forget
my umbrella (which is everyday...) ;)
So! Last Monday, we had an awesome lesson with our Iranian
investigator. He is loving learning, and reading, and talking. He is so
interested and excited, the only problem is, he isn't sure if he can be baptized,
because if he returns home to Iran, that could be really bad. But he is still
wanting to learn and talk! Then that night, we got into quite the conversation
with two Muslims. Very nice men! One was nicer than the other though, (Luckily
I was talking to him and Sister Beck had the more difficult one). Those
conversations are always...interesting.
Tuesday was exchanges! So I got to adventure off to the land
of Ilford with Sister Carvaljo for 24 hours! (Ilford is still technically
London, just Zone 5 and in another borough. Like about an hour tube ride away.)
Ilford is like Pakistan. That is the only way to describe it...But I really
loved it! We were able to help a member clean her house, do some tracting, and
teach a lesson to an AWESOME investigator. He really is great! It was a lot of
fun, but I think the most amazing part was when we came back to South
Kensington. This was the first time I had been way outside of our area
(technically the VC isn't in our area, so I'm not in it a lot haha ;)) We
walked out of the tube station and headed down Exhibition Road to the VC. Here
we were, walking down one of the most famous streets, in London, England,
surround my TONS of people, and I felt like I was coming home. I felt so
comfortable and peaceful. It really felt like I was home and lived here for A
LOT longer than 2 months. It was really a tender mercy. :)
Thursday, we visited a less-active you had only recently
started coming back to church. She just moved here in August, but has been
inactive for years. She is SO nice and so excited to come back. We are really
thrilled to be working with her now. :)
Friday, the Ohman's took us out for lunch. OH MY DAYS. We
went to Byrons and had the BEST burgers and chips. Mine, obviously, had bacon
and it was so American and so delicious and we also had Oreo Milkshakes, and oh
my days, I ate so much. :) (It's a good thing Sister Beck and I run every
morning...)
Saturday, we had a lesson with Lisa at the Neel's home, that
went so well! We were able to really talk about some of the basic
principles that make up the Gospel, and really delve into the scriptures, and
how we make the Gospel a part of who we are. The Spirit was so strong and we
were SO grateful for the Neel's and Cierra and Lisa!
Sunday, we brought our investigator,
Dapo, to a baptism. He is FILLED with questions, and they are mostly questions
that would be answered if he just read the Book of Mormon. But He doesn't want
to. He will read the Bible, but hasn't picked of the Book of Mormon. When he
came, he told us that he had "made a decision of whether he would join the
Mormon faith or not." Sister Beck and I got a little scared, and both felt
like he was going to drop us, since he hadn't read yet. I had a whole shpeel in
my head about how if he didn't even try, he couldn't know, etc... But the Spirit
was SO strong at the baptism, he was able to talk to an AWESOME member, and
another AWESOME Elder (Elder Adriano), and you could tell he felt something.
Afterward, he told us he would give us his decision next week. We could tell
that he felt like he really had some thinking to do. So we are just praying he
will actually read this week!
Also, we met with out cute Chinese
investigator, Zita. But she is going back to Hong Kong this week. :( I love her
SO MUCH! But we will keep in touch via email and she wants to go to church in
Hong Kong. :)
So Sister Beck and are the coolest. Last night we basically
had a FULL ON wrestling match. (Thanks to my dearest Daddy for teaching me the
fool-proof way to knock someone down). I also licked her, and she HATES HATES
HATES HATES mouths and saliva. So I won. She says I cheated...but I am pretty
sure I won. ;) Then we stayed up a little too late making fun songs with our
stomachs and laughing.... Haha I really love her. :)
Today is Sister Pagofie's birthday! So everyone, and I mean
EVERYONE, send a happy birthday email to avi.pagofie@myldsmail.net She will LOVE it. :) Please do it!
:)
Well! Today we received the news of who the new mission
president and he wife will be! Hear is what President Jordan said about them.
"If you have not already heard, the Prophet has called a new mission
president to preside over the England London Mission beginning on July 1st. His
name is Mark Stevens. He and his wife, Sister Jean Stevens, are from Salt Lake
City, Utah. He is an experienced priesthood leader who has previously served as
a stake president. Sister Stevens is also an experienced church leader and
currently serves as a counsellor in the General Primary Presidency. They are
wonderful people and I am confident the Mission will be in very good hands when
July comes." So that is weird to hear and think about! I absolutely LOVE
President and Sister Jordan. I know that I needed to be here at this time, so
that I could receive advice and counsel from them. But I also really feel that
I need the specific counsel from
President and Sister Stevens. I am so excited for the next few months with the
Jordans, and the following months with the Stevens. :)
The church is true, the book is blue, and I love you. :)
Love,
Sister Moody
