"We put the 'Hyde Park' in Hyde Park Chapel!"
This week, Oh. My. Days!! Miracles!
First off, we had interviews on Tuesday!
I just love President and Sister Jordan. They are truly inspired and
remarkable people. In my interview, President suggested I read a talk
(Becoming Perfect in Christ by Garrit Gong) and it changed my life and
my mission. It really helped me to see what I need to be focusing on and
why I am here. I highly suggest it. :)
So, the
week started off a little slow. We tried contacting a lot of different
referrals, formers, potentials, etc...but no one was home or would
answer the phone or listen etc...So I was feeling pretty discouraged.
But then some miracles happened...
First
miracle! We were on the tube, on our way to visit a recent convert, when
we started talking to this young lady. She was from Brazil and on
holiday for 2 days. She hardly spoke English at all, but we were still
able to communicate! She told us she had a friend in Park City! (Whom we
later looked up on Facebook and we are pretty sure that she is a
member!) Then she asked us if we could help her find her hostile. So we
pulled out our trusty A-Z (map) and marched on! We found it and walked
her inside. She turned to us and said "Angels. You two are angels!!" And
gave big hugs. We got her Facebook name and email and are now in
contact with her! It's incredible! The amazing thing is, is that if it
weren't for our call to the VC and the online proselyting that we do, we
wouldn't be able to talk and teach her online Because of our unique and
specific call, we are able to help bring the Gospel the the four
corners of the earth. :)
Second miracle! So our
investigator, L, had breakfast with some members in the ward (the
Neels). L has been meeting with the missionaries for about 7 months, but
wanted to make sure she was completely ready before being baptized.
After her breakfast, Sister Neel called us up and told us that L had
said she wanted to be baptized on Friday! Like, this coming Friday!!
So, yeah!! It was so exciting and we talked to her at church yesterday
and she is so ready and ahhhh. :) We love her so much and are so excited
for this wonderful choice she has made. :)
Third miracle! Saturday night we were going to go see a former investigator, but we also desperately needed to pick up something from the store before Sunday.
We couldn't figure out if we should go before or after we tried to
contact her, so we put our faith in Heavenly Father and went to the bus
stop. We decided that whichever bus came first (the 52 to go see the
former, or the 9 to go to the store) would be the one we took! A few
minutes later, the number 9 rolled up, so we hopped on! long story
short, we shopped, got lost, found the right bus stop, made it to
Ladbroke Grove, went the wrong way, and finally realized where we were.
We turned around to try and make it to her house before we had to head
home, when we saw this young man. We both felt like we need to stop him,
and so we did! He was smoking, his speech as a little slurred, so we
didn't think it would go anywhere. Nonetheless, the kept talking to him.
He said he didn't really believe in God because there was no way you
could prove that there was a God, but then he said there really isn't a
way you can prove that there isn't one either, so he could see either
way. Sister Beck bore a beautiful testimony about how she came to know
that we have a Father in Heaven, and he seemed to get a little
emotional. So I bore my testimony as well, and he just kept saying "This
is crazy. This is mad. I can't believe this. This is mad." Then told us
how he had been making some bad choices and been going through some
rough things, and that he felt like this was a sign from God. We told
him that we could feel God's love for him and that He is real. He gave
us his information and we are currently in contact with him! It was
incredible! The spirit was so strong.
Okay! So
now for the funny story of the week, today we had Zone P-day! So our
whole zone got together to play some chair football and ultimate
frisbee! (And we got to wear trousers in public. CHECK YES!) So we
headed over to Hyde Park to play frisbee. We found a clear spot and
started playing! It was SO MUCH FUN! It was super muddy so we were
sliding around and just having a blast. Pretty soon the police pulled up
and called us over...heh heh....we didn't know what was going on, but
the police man politely informed us that we were actually on the
Kensington Palace grounds and not Hyde Park. So yes, we were playing
frisbee on Will and Kate's front lawn. (In our defense! There were no
signs. ;)) So, someone had called the police to tell us to high tail it
out of there. Haha......But yeah!! I guess Will and Kate just haven't
accepted the Gospel yet. ;) But we will keep trying! ;) Then we just
headed over to the chapel and played some chair football. (Which I came
SO CLOSE to dominating at, but Elder Torbit just bareeeelyyy beat me!)
Well!
That is pretty much it for the week! It has been so great. I have
really grown A LOT this week and am so grateful for this opportunity I
have to serve the Lord with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. I
know that this church is true, I know it with all that I have. And I
leave these things with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!! :)
Love,
Sister Moody
