Beleza!
This week has been pretty awesome!! :) On Tuesday we made
coxhina's (they are this really good Brazilian food) with our investigator
Geralda! (Geo, Alberto, and Albey's mom). That was so much fun!! And, she made
us these super wonderful African dresses. She is such a wonderful lady. :) We
have such a wonderful bond with her. She calls us her daughters. :)
Wednesday was the best day, EVER! So it started out...well...I sat in bird poop.
Hahhhhhhhh. So, I found that funny, but started to think, "Oh man, is this
what it's going to be like today?" But little did I know..... So we went
to our investigator, Helder's house, and to see if he was available, and then
we went over to Geo, Alberto, and Albey's to have the lesson! He is being
interview for baptism tomorrow so we went over the questions and he is golden.
He is SO wonderful! :) Then Marinho came! (Without us calling him to remind
him, which never happens), AND he showed up with 2 friends!! So we then sat
down and had such a spiritual lesson. Their names are Gibson, and Julinho (ages
11 and 12) and their older sister is a former investigator that we had tried to
contact a few weeks ago! They both expressed sincere to desire to simply know
if God and Jesus Christ exist. We taught them and then scheduled another time
to go to their house. And then Geo, who is becoming a seriously awesome
missionary, began asking for referrals, and making sure they were committed,
and helping them prayer and as questions. It was wonderful! :) Then we left to
go stop by a less-active's house. They weren't home, but they non-member
brother was. He doesn't seem very interested, but we were able to share a
little message and give him a Because He Lives card. So then we decided to go
back over to Geo, Alberto, and Albey's home, and Ana, our recent convert was
there! So we were able to have a little lesson about Personal Progress with her
and Albey. Basically, if we want to teach and find, all we have to go is go
over to the Tavares family's home! Haha. :) It was SUCH a good day, despite the
"crappy" start. ;)
Thursday we went to Bedford for
interviews! Sister Shigekiyo and I were the most prepared. We had made a selfie
stick out of duct tape and a mini pole, a MIND THE GAP crown, matching outfits,
and coxhinas for President (He served his mission in Brazil). Basically, we're
the best missionaries. Also! The mission is putting together our own video of
all the missionaries singing Glorious, and so they recorded that, and then
asked for a few volunteers to sing solos or duets that they would add in, and
our wonderful Zone Leader volunteered Sister Shigekiyo and I!! Ugh. So we had
to go sing in front of the camera. Awwwkward. But then it hit me how comfortable
I felt. No, I do not have the best voice, but I simply didn't feel shy
doing so! I have grown so much in my confidence since coming on my mission. I
feel like I am growing into the Daughter of God that I need to be. It just
really hit me then how grateful I am to have the opportunity to be serving in
the Lord's vineyard. :)
So the most exciting news is that we will have 2 baptisms on
Sunday! Marinho and Helder are so prepared and ready to be baptized. It's
amazing, the Portuguese youth are just readily accepting and willing to learn.
I absolutely love teaching them! And even though the parents are a little
slower progressing, I am confident that the Lord's timing is perfect and the
families will eventually accept the Gospel and be able to be sealed. I've also
decided that my soul is now Portuguese. :) I love Huntingdon and am so
confident that I was meant to be here. I now know more how this is the Lord's
work, and how as we turn to him, we will always be able to overcome anything.
:) I know this is the same church that Christ established. I know that the Book
of Mormon is true. I know it all without a doubt. I'm so grateful for this
Gospel and how it has changed and saved my life. :)
I love you all! Thank you so much for the support. My
prayers are with you. :)
