Hello everyone!
This week has been so good!! :) A
lot of fun, and a lot of miracles. :)
Tuesday we got a random text from
someone we had met on a footpath a few weeks back (she helped us when we were
lost) saying that she had the day off and she would lot to meet! So we met her
in town and had a little mini-lesson! She is really sweet, super busy, but
really sweet! So hopefully we will be able to see her again sometime soon. :)
Thursday we tracted. A lot! And
sometimes it can be discouraging when you get door after door in your face, or
no one is home, but we did have a funny little moment! We knocked one door, but
no one answered, so we knocked the one next to it and someone came out, right
as the other door opened too! So we were able to talk to both of them. :) One
lady wasn't interested, but the other man was! He said he had been invited to
church a few time but never had gone, but thought it might be nice! So we set
another time that we could come back. :) So that was pretty cool! :)
Friday we were able to see one of
our new investigators, Julinho. He's 11. :) And we committed him to be baptised
on May 10th! We still want to try and get his parents more interested, so that
is our focus now. :) He is such a good kid! He is only 11, but he always gives
really good, and thought out answers. He has started reading the Book of Mormon
and says that he feels really safe when he reads it. :)
Saturday we played a really intense
game of football, so I'm a little sore from that, haha. ;)
Sunday was the best day ever!! :) It
started out with Ana finally being confirmed (she has been sick the past few
weeks) and then ended with 2 baptisms!! Marinho and Helder were so excited. :)
They seemed a little nervous at first, but as soon as they were about to be
baptised, their faces were beaming. The service was wonderful and the spirit
was so strong! Both have come a long way, but both are so good. They both
really grasp the Gospel. :) When Marinho was asked why he wanted to be baptized,
he simply said "I want to follow the example of Jesus Christ." His
brothers were baptized in February, and ever since then he has avoided the
subject constantly. But the past few weeks, he has truly changed. You can see
how the Atonement as really taken place in his life and helped him see where he
needed to be. Helder is now currently the only member in his family. He wanted
a full month to be prepared, and he is probably one of the most prepared people
I have ever seen be baptized! The day before, he offered a simply prayer for
comfort, and you could see by Sunday how ready he was! He was absolutely
beaming! He has also come quite a long way. It was truly an amazing experience
and I feel so blessed to have been able to witness it. :)
I truly love Huntingdon so much!!
Sometimes I feel like a mom with all of the Portuguese youth running around,
but it's the best. :) The people I have met here have changed me forever. I've
been humbled so much and am SO grateful for this little village. It has my
heart forever. :)
So on Saturday, we truly were shown
the power of prayer! We were going to Ana's house and before we left our flat,
we said a prayer that we would be able to find some more good, solid,
investigators. (Now that our 2 most reliable ones have been baptized, we really
need to find!) When we got to Ana's house, we started talking to her Mum. She
told us that she had a friend who had had contact with the church in Africa,
but then had moved to Portugal. In Portugal, she was searching for the church
but never found it, then she moved here. When she heard that Ana had been
baptized, she said that it was the church she was looking for! She has been out
of town for the past 2 weeks, but is returning on Saturday, and Ana's mom is
going to take us over there to visit her next week!! :) We truly learned that
when you are obedient, and always finding, and always praying, then the Lord
will bless you immensely. :)
Well, I love you all so much!! I
KNOW that this church is the same church that Christ established. I'm so
grateful for this opportunity I have to be a missionary and to help others feel
the same love from God and Jesus Christ that I have felt. :) And I leave this
with you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. :)
Love always,
Sister Moody
