Me, with my "British parents" Paul and Roz West
Hola!
Wow
this week has flown by! Considering it's been about 1.5 weeks since our last
p-day. :) so hopefully I can remember everything that happened!!
Sunday,
we had the most interesting Gospel principles lessons, ever. Basically, all we
did was talk about "dodgy doctrine" and different things about the
Fall. Hahaha there was just one person who had a lot of inaccurate information
that we cleared up. :) but it was fun! Our Recent Convert, M, and our
investigator, R, really liked it! Haha so that's good. :)
Tuesday
we had district meeting and then went to Nandos after. Nandos is this really
good restaurant that has the best chicken. Ever. :)
Wednesday
we had a wonderful lesson with our new investigator, M! He was referred by
the miracle less active we met in the library one of he first weeks of the
transfer. We explained our purpose as missionaries, did how to begin teaching,
etc...and then he ended up being a fellowshipper for the less active! He is
really good! We also put him on date to be baptised for the 27th :) and
he's...Portuguese!! So, we do have a Portuguese ward here so we will be
referring him, but my experiences in Huntingdon really prepared me for that
lesson. ;)
The
next few days were pretty typical mish life. Contact former investigators, get
doors slammed in your face, hike a bunch of stairs and try and open this
sketchy door that keeps getting you stuck and locked on the balcony area, make
a bajillion phone calls, etc... I pretty much love it. :)
Sunday
was amazing!!!! So Elder Holland was in Scotland and so they had a multi stake
broadcast for the UK and Nordic regions. Oh. My. Days. Pretty sure my eyebrows
were a bit singed after his talk. He bore a BEAUTIFUL and POWERFUL testimony of
the Book of Mormon. It was like his Book of Mormon general conference address,
part 2. AH JUST SO INCREDIBLE. And all the other speakers as well! It was a
powerful meeting. And before it started, I was in the chapel when Sister Lung
came and said there were people here to see me? So I looked and there were my
British parents (my brother-in-law's mum and dad)!!!! I seriously got soooooo
excited and jumped up to give them hugs. Ah it was so wonderful to see them.
Such a tender mercy. :)
Later
that night we had a devotional with The Piano Guys! There's were SO many
people. And it was crazy. But wonderful. So spiritual. :) They all bore amazing
testimonies and we got to meet them after. And for the closing song? They
played Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. Sister Gjevik and I about died. So
wonderful. :)
Oh!
Sister Dalton also came into the VC this week. Sometimes you just meet really
cool people in the visitors' centre. :)
Exciting
news!! Elder Holland is coming to speak to the mission in Friday! :) Soooooo
exciting. :)
So!
This week is....transfers!! (It was a weird five week transfer) and the VC is
losing 4 wonderful sisters, Sister Van Der Leek, Sister Pagofie, Sister
Tshimanga, and Sister Gjevik. (My dear companion, may she rest in peace. ) I have learned SO
much from all of them. I'm so grateful for their example. I'm so grateful for
the friendships formed on missions. Seriously though, I have met friends for
life here and am so blessed. I love the people and just everything about being
a missionary!! :)
I'm
sure you're all dying to know why my subject is a baby announcement. Haha well...last
night we were waiting for our DL to call for the zone moves call, where we all
find out who we are getting, who is leaving, etc... But right before...I got a
call from President Jordan...which means....I'm training this transfer!! :) I'm
going to have a daughter!! haha ;) We have 2 new VC sisters coming and so
Sister Hug and I will find out tomorrow who will be with who. :) I'm so
excited!! This transfer is going to be incredible. :)
So
first off. I just want to express my love for Sister Gjevik. This transfer has
been so amazing and I'm so grateful I got to spend it with her. She is
amazing!! Really though. It's been the best. :) I've grown so much and am so
excited as well to take on this next transfer by the horns and continue to
immerse myself in the work. :) I love being a missionary!!! :) This week, I
have really noticed the many expressions of love that Heavenly Father gives to
us, each and everyday. As we notice and acknowledge those everyday, our outlook
on life, and happiness improves and we can truly feel the love of God in our
life. Isn't it incredible how there is a mighty, omnipotent God, and yet he
loves and knows us each individually? I can testify that that is true. I have
felt it so strongly, especially this week. All of us our divine children of
God. :)
Xx
