Cheers.
This week has, like always, been crazy. :) There was a massive tube strike, so ALL the Underground tubes where closed Wednesday from 6:00
on, and all day Thursday. That made life...fun. :) but hey!! We had
some good adventures. :)
Wednesday in the morning, we had interviews with President and Sister
Stevens. :) I love them so much!! I'm so grateful for the, and can't
wait to continue to serve with them. :) we also had a powerful
training about submitting our will to Gods. His will is what matters.
:) and faith!! We also talked a lot about faith. But these two
subjects really came into play later in the day...
So we had a lesson with Angela later, and we felt like it might have
been a little scattered. But thank goodness for the Spirit haha. We
simply turned it over to Him, and let Him guide, afterward, she looked
at us and thanked us, saying that it was such a powerful lesson, and
it was so good. She then offered the closing prayer, and prayed
specifically about what we had been teaching and if it was true. And
baptism. :) She is so close. Now we are just helping her recognise her
answers and continue to learn. I love her SO much. It's incredible the
type of/amount of love you feel for people as a missionary. I can't
even describe it. But, I am just humbled at the amount of love I feel,
and God feels, for her. :)
So after this lesson, we started walking, realising that the tubes
were down and we needed to find a bus. We were also STARVING and
wanted to get back to Holborn to eat. We knew what bus, just not where
to find it...but as we were walking I felt prompted to stop by this
building, where a potential worked as a security guard. Lo and behold,
he was there!! We had a wonderful conversation, and showed him Because
He Lives, which he loved. :) Then we got all his information so we can
refer him to the missionaries in his area! He also mentioned he had
been praying for people he could talk about God with. So great. :)
Then, we started walking again, towards where we thought the bus stop
might be, whilst having faith that the Lord would guide us to where we
needed to be. Suddenly, some guy stopped us and said "The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints?! I've been there!!" We had a
wonderful step-in lesson with him and found out that he had talked to
missionaries before, and even gone to the church. We exchanged mobile
numbers, and when I looked, his number was already in the phone!! He
loves God, and Christ, and said that he had recently been praying to
know how he could "stick" in a religion. We told him it was no
coincidence that we were there, as we were just walking, trying to
find a bus stop. :) Then we prayed with him, and kept walking. We said
hi to one man, who seemed quite surprised, so we asked him what made
him happy. :) He seemed so surprised that we were talking to him, and
so intrigued by that. We also got his information and invited him to
church. :) So! Often, we are told to pray that prepared people will be
our in our path, as long as we are following our plans and being
obedient, which I have seen MANY miracles from. This day however, we
learned the importance of completely submitting our will to Gods, and
having faith that he will lead us. Instead of having people put in our
path, we were put in there's, we were just trying to find a bus stop
so we could get home! But the Lord knew these people were ready, and
so He made sure that we were where we needed to be. It was amazing to
see how the Lord used us to help these individuals. :)
The next day was actually pretty similar, too. So because of the tube
strike, we were in South Kensington all day. We were on shift in the
morning, and afterward, Sister Griffeth and this sudden craving for a
donut, like, hard core craving. We decided to run to the station store
to grab one before we started our weekly planning. We walked there,
only to find out that not only was the station closed because of the
strike, so where the stores. So we started walking back when we were
stopped by some members! They pointed to a lady (their mom) who was
sitting on the bench and asked if we could talk to her. She was tired
and was waiting while they kept walking, and had really wanted to see
missionaries. So we talked to her, and ended up bringing her into the
VC to give her a tour. She was THE sweetest lady ever, and we had a
wonderful time. She kept thanking us, and telling us that we had made
her day. Then we walked her back to the bench, the headed back to the
VC to finally some weekly planning, when a man that lived in our area
came in! We happened to walk by RIGHT as the sister asked him where he
lived, and he said Holborn (where we live). He expressed some serious
concerns his "friend" was having, with understanding the reason to
still be alive. We assured him that God loved this "friend" and had a
plan for all of his children. Then we showed him The Hope of Gods
Light mormon message, about the man who wanted to take his life, and
the found the Gospel, but it wasn't an easy journey. Afterward, he
opened up that he was talking about himself, and we were able to have
a powerful lesson with him. (He's French so I even got to use French a
little bit :)) he is going to France for a few weeks, but he gave us
all his information, and as he was leaving he said "Thank you, and I
will be back in a few weeks. See you then." It was powerful. :) No, we
weren't able to get to our weekly planning, but that doesn't matter.
We were again, guided by the Lord to be in the exact place, and the
exact right time. I just, love this Gospel so much. :) and hey!! It
was all because Sister Griffeth wanted a donut. ;)
Friday, we had an African BBQ with a WONDERFUL family in the ward, the
Okunghaes. It was SO much fun. And they invited their non-member
friends to come! They had the cutest twin 5 year old girls. When they
saw our name tags, they asked if we loved Jesus. We told them yes of
course. :) and one of them then exclaimed "WHERES JESUS?!? I DON'T
SEEEEEEEEE JESUS!! BUT HE LOVES YOU AND GOD LOVES YOU AND THEY LOVE
ALL OF US!!!" By far the cutest thing. Ever. :) the afterward, Brother
Okunghae bore a beautiful testimony. Ah, I just love the Whitechapel
ward so much. :)
Sunday, we had a wonderful lesson with Kemi! She is fasting and
praying about baptism, and is just so fun and wonderful. :) I love her
so much too!!
Then we had the munch and mingle, and munch and mingles are LEGENDARY
in Whitechapel. More food then you could ever imagine, and it's almost
alllll African. I love it!! Jalaf rice, plantains, chicken, etc... Ah
man. So good. :)
Sunday night in the VC, we had this wonderful man come in from South
Korea. He said he just wanted to look around, and so we showed him the
chapel and Because He Lives. (We later found out that he had already
really been looking into the church, and really wants, to go to Salt
Lake) we had a pretty powerful tour with him, and he just kept
thanking us. We have his information to send to the missionaries in
Korea, and so that we can keep in contact. :)
Well! I love the work. I love being a missionary. I love England. I
love London. I love everything about this. :) have a great week!!
Xx
