This week has been utterly crazy and full of some great surprises! And is now leading into what will become the most stressful week of my mission life...
So first surprise/tender mercy of the week happened in Monday! We were on shift at the VC and had a Skype appointment with our online investigator, Rajiv. We referred him to missionaries in Russia and he told us he had an appointment set up with them, but then we lost contact so we weren't sure what had happened! And then we miraculously were able to set up this Skype lesson. Five minutes in, we asked him how he liked church and he responded with "Yeah I've loved it! I was baptised on Saturday!" WHAT. So crazy and wonderful!! He is so great and I feel so blessed to have been able to be apart of his journey here. :) (for those of you who don't know/are curious as to how it works with online investigators, we meet them on mormon.org chat, facebook, come into the VC, etc... And we begin to teach them online. Our goal is to get them to feel comfortable meeting with missionaries in their area, and then to be there for follow up and support before and after baptism.) So that was AMAZING! :)
Tuesday we had interviews with President Stevens! Man I really love him. I was able to talk to him about some thing that had been weighing on my mind and it was just what I needed. And Sister Stevens gave a magnificent training on working with members. MAN. I love the Stevens!! I feel so blessed to have been able to spend the first half of my mission with the Jordans and the last half with the Stevens. :) best of both worlds!!
From Wednesday to Thursday we had an exchange with the Sister Training a Leaders and I was able to spend time with Sister Epicoco from Italy in the London North area! We had a blast. First, it was POURING BUCKETS AND BUCKETS. I've never been so wet haha. We were meeting a less active at the tube station, but he was running late so we were doing some finding in the rain and it was so funny. We would just walk up to someone and put our umbrella over them so they couldn't run away. ;)
Thursday wasn't as wet and we did a little bit of finding and tracting. (We hardly EVER tract in London. So that was fun!) and back here in the Whitechapel area, Sister Wai and Sister Grant had a great first lesson with Michael's (our recent convert) friend! She is super sweet. They taught her lesson one, and were able to set a baptismal date for October 17th. :) She wasn't able to make to to church, and is still a bit hesitant, but super great and we are excited to continue to meet with her. :)
Friday we were able to visit Vivien again. We found out she is just outside of our ward boundaries, so we will be referring her over to the London North sisters. Then afterward we had dinner with Michael! Harriet, a recent convert from the YSA ward came along, :) man! Michael is such a good cook! Haha then we had a great lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He has only been baptised a few months, but seems like he has been a member for ages!!
Saturday we did service and helped some members move. That was fun! Adventurous as well haha. We also had our VC meeting! Sister Lung and I gave a training on the actual chapel at the VC. I felt it went really good. The chapel, no matter the building, is so special and
sacred when we remember that that is where we partake of the sacrament, there is a special spirit there. I feel SO overwhelmed with love for where I serve.
Then the rest of our appointments canceled. So...yeah haha but it all turned out great by Sunday!
So we were supposed to have a lesson with Chioma on Saturday and Sunday, but she wasn't able to come on Saturday. Her baptismal date is this upcoming Saturday, but because we haven't been able to teach her much lately, we were pretty sure we would have to move it back a few
weeks. Well we saw her on Sunday and talked about it. And SURPRISE!! She is so excited to be baptised!! She's been reading and praying and is just super ready. So hence the beginnings of the most stressful week of our life! We have to make sure she is taught everything, has an interview, the program is set, etc...but hey! We can't complain at all! :) Ahhh I love her so much and feel so blessed to have been a part of this with her.
This week I've really felt the power and truthfulness of the Gospel. Don't get me wrong, I KNOW it is true. But this week, it was just more prominent to me. Things from miraculously making the train in time, conversations on the tube, comments at church, Chioma, Rajiv, just so many things have shown me verrrrrry clearly that there IS a God and that He loves us SO much and is SO aware of us. Isn't that amazing? The Gospel amazes me every single day. I'm so grateful to be apart of this great work. I'm grateful for where I serve. I'm grateful for Sister Wai. I'm just so grateful. :)
Love you all!
