Yo yo yo! Life is good here in good ole' England! As usual,
I love London and never want to leave. It's funny, my biggest fear about coming
on a mission, was not being able to handle it, and having to return home early,
but the more I am here, the more I just fall in love with everything about
London life, and about missionary life. Yes, missionary work is so hard. Sister
Beck put it nicely this week, She said "Missionary work is hard, but it's
so simple!" It is so true! And I have really learned that this week. There
have been a few moments of frustration and homesickness, that caused me to fall
to my knees in prayer. But it is during those times that I have come to feel
the most peace and love from our Heavenly Father and Saviour. Being a
missionary is the hardest thing I have ever done, but as long as I am willing
to plead and ask for help from above, then it becomes simple, and the path is
laid out before me. I have seen such a change in myself. I now have a different
type of confidence and energy and excitement for life. I love it! I know I
wouldn't be able to do it without Sister Beck and I am so grateful for her and
her amazing example. She truly has been the biggest blessing to me. Heavenly
Father knew we needed each other, even though we can get a little crazy
sometimes. ;)
So Sister Beck has been pretty ill this past week, so we
have had a lot of time in the VC or back at the flat, so she doesn't push
herself past her limit. But it's amazing how as long as our hearts are in the
right place, the work is still able to progress. We had so many miracles during
this time! One, we were at the VC, doing some online proselyting, when someone
came on chat and said they wanted their friend to meet with missionaries! This
is very common, so we usually get the friends address and number, and then send
it one to the local missionaries! Pretty common stuff. But this time, as she
gave us the friends information, we realized that it was IN OUR AREA. That
NEVER happens!! Needless to say, we got extremely excited and contacted him
immediately! Another miracle happened when we were back at the flat. Sister
Beck was lying down, and I was making some phone calls. I called person after
person after person and NO ONE answered. Needless to say, I got a little
frustrated. So I said a quick prayer that my intentions would be right and that
I would be able to get in contact with some people. Then I scrolled through the
phone and decided to call a potential investigator named Yosef. Now, we don't
know how we met him, all we know is that he texted us back in December, saying
we had met on the bus and he was interested! But every appointment we have set,
he has hosed us. So we stopped trying as hard as we were. Well, I felt like I
should call him and so I did! AND HE ANSWERED!! i ended up having a 20 minute
conversation with him about his work, taxes, life, etc...and the Book of
Mormon, prayer, and how the Gospel can help him balance his busy life. I said a
prayer with him on the phone and he got really quiet. Then said, very quietly,
"I'm not going to lie, I'm crying right now. What you just said, you have
softened my heart. I will see you on Monday. I don't care if I have to cancel
something, now I know that I need this in my life." The Spirit was SO
strong. It was truly a miracle. And now we are seeing him tonight! We hope and
pray he will be able to make it. :)
So we have decided that Sister Beck needs to stop. Being.
So. Pretty! She gets hit on so much!! Haha it's so funny! Last week we met a
guy who said he was going to come to church. He never did, so we called him,
but he didn't answer. Then a few days later we got a text from him apologizing
for not coming. It said..."Hey Sister Beck...Am so sorry about
Sunday...would love to meet you for prayers and coffee...would love love to spend
more time with you and make it up to you...X..." And another...
"Sorry...hope your not upset...it was not intentional and it randomly
happened due to my niece...like i said I'd love to make it up to you...maybe we
can spend more time together one day...let me know babe...X..." I about
died reading that text to her. She just pretended to gag and vomit. AND THEN!
The next day, we get on the tube and she saw someone across the tube who had
noticed us, (this isn't uncommon because we are pretty loud and have little
black name tags...), so she simply smiled and we continued on! We got off at
Hammersmith to change tube lines, and when we turned around we almost ran smack
into the guy! He then followed us onto the other tube and sat next to Sister
Beck. She said hi and he said he had noticed her smile and wanted to know why
she was happy. We thought "Hey! Perfect teaching opportunity!" But he
just wouldn't stop talking about her smile...weird...She asked where he was
going and he said "Well, no where now!" SO HE FOLLOWED US ONTO THE
TUBE. LIKE, ACROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION AND INTO THE UNDERGROUND. All because of
her smile, I'm telling you! She's a babe! ;) But, we set up an appointment for
him to come watch Meet the Mormons later that night. He ended up calling twice
before then and asked Sister Beck to the Cinema. She politely declined and
stated our purpose as missionaries, and we haven't heard from him since! It was
just so funny.
Today we at at a place called the Dutch Pancake house and it
was SO DELICIOUS! I had a crepe with bacon on it. No, I haven't changed my love
for bacon. ;)
For my 3 month birthday, Sister Beck took me to get AMAZING
ice cream and Pret-A-Manger. Pret, is basically the most delicious place to
eat. Fresh sandwiches and salads that are ready to just take and eat! It's my
favourite. :)
Well! I love being a missionary and there is no doubt in my mind that this is where I need to be. Simply put, serving a mission is BY FAR the best decision I have ever made in my entire life. I love the Gospel and I know it's true. And I leave you this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. :)
