(Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire)
Oi galera!
(So I'm basically fluent in Portuguese now, so that's cool.
;) Not really, but I am hoping that by the end of this transfer, I can pray in
Portuguese! Sister Falcao is good teacher so I'm learning from the best! Haha
:))
So Huntingdon is amazing! It's not like London AT ALL.
London is busy and loud, Huntingdon is quiet and calm. It's like this little
old English town, with many surrounding villages. I can't get over how cute it
is! I feel like I'm in a Jane Austen book or something. I'm always constantly
looking around as we ride around, in complete awe at how beautiful it is! This
little country town, already has my heart! Don't get me wrong, I still am IN
LOVE with London! But now I am also IN LOVE with Huntingdon. :) And the best
part is? We are on bikes!! Have you ever ridden a bike in a skirt? It's an
adventure. :)
Which leads to my next story! Wednesday. So my first day
here, we were riding home when I noticed that my skirt was getting tighter and
tighter. Then suddenly the bike stopped. I tried to move but couldn't Yes, my
skirt was caught in the wheel!! Oh my days, and it was my favourite skirt too!
Haha. :) So I died a little bit. But Sister Falcao is amazing! It took about 15
minutes, but we were eventually able to get it free with only a teeny tiny
hole. :) And then the next day, Sister Falcao ran into a pole. And the next
day? I took a corner fast, slipped on some mud, and totally wiped out! We are
really good at riding bikes. :)
Sister Falcao is fantastic! Every night usually ends in a
lot of laughter and water chugging...We get distracted super easily.... :) Last
night I turned into a full on gangster and rapped. Unfortunately, the computer
isn't cooperating with my camera card and so I can't send pictures this week.
Hopefully next!!
So! What has happened this week...so much! We had a baptism on
Saturday! So that was really cool. :) 2 brothers, 'A' and 'H', ages 16
and 9. But they hardly speak English...actually, there are SO many Portuguese
people here! So I'm learning. :) I can already introduce myself and say "I
don't speak Portuguese!" So that's pretty cool. Anyway! They are the best
though. :) The youth here are amazing! There are so many! We have 3 recent
converts, 'A', 'G', and 'A' (all siblings), who are the best. We work
with them a lot and they are such good member missionaries! The whole ward is.
The ward is huge! And I am just so excited to be here. :)
On Sundays we teach English, so that was fun. :) Also! There
is an American base nearby, so we get a lot of American food. The members are
the best! Girl scout cookies, root beer, pancake mix, hamburger helpers, etc.
:) We won't starve here!
Anyways, I'm completely out of time but have so much to say.
So yeah. :) Being away from the VC has been so hard. I won't sugar coat it.
There have been a few moments where the only thing I want is to go back. I've
been homesick for the VC. But, yesterday some thing changed, As we sat talking
to Alberto and Albey, I realized that I need to be here. I could just feel that
I need Huntingdon. My faith in the Lord has grown so much. During those moments
of heartache, is when I pray the hardest to be an instrument int he Lords
hands. I know He needs me here. I'm SO excited to see what adventures await,
and I know that as I continue to forget myself and go to work, all will be
well. :) And I leave these things with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Love you all. :) Thanks for everything!
