GOODBYE WHITECHAPEL

Well hello there!

This has been a FANTASTIC week. Most of it was spent in preparation for the baptism on Saturday, which went wonderfully!
Tuesday we finally were able to see Juliet. We had a pretty hard care "do or die" lesson and luckily she chose the first option. :) We recommitted her to be committed and show us that she is sincere about learning! :) Then later, when we were on shift in the VC, the Science Museum had an evacuation, and lots of school children were left in the cold with no coats for over an hour! So we let them all come in and we had almost 300 little kids in the VC! It was so much fun. They were SO well behaved, and cleaned up, and were so polite. It was a blast. Then a main guy from the Science Museum came over and gave us all a personal thank you and so now we are pretty much best friends with the Science Museum.
Wednesday we had a special training with President Stevens about the missionary broadcast and it was sooo great and spiritual. :)
Thursday we had district meeting, and we did the donut challenge where we had to eat it off a string, and I DOMINATED. (Also, mine was gluten free so that was good! :))
Afterward, we went bus finding and I sat next to this guy who had gone to church a lot about 4 years ago, and was very familiar with the VC. He also told me how he was living the Word of Wisdom! I asked if he would be interested in meeting with missionaries and he said "Yeah, now?" So we got off the bus and found a bench and taught him! Then he showed us were he lives and we set up another appointment. :)

Friday, we had a lesson with Leah before her baptism on Saturday! It was great. We explained a lot more about what would happen and last minute things. She was SO excited and SO happy to be  baptised. :)
Then we had dinner at Michaels with Lorraine, and we watched Meet the Mormons! We're still in the process of figuring our if she is a member or not...
Saturday was Leah's baptism!! It was BEAUTIFUL. She was beaming, and she was SO happy. It was an amazing service and I feel so blessed to have been apart of it, and her journey. :)
Also, I called an online investigator in Kenya, and it turns how he has a Book of Mormon and is teaching it to his congregation, as well has showing them all the church films and told me that he "wants missionaries to visit him and teach his people because they want to be baptised into the restored Gospel by someone with authority". Craziest phone call of my life! We're sending missionaries and will see what happens!!
Church was fantastic. We taught primary and that was fun. :) Also, it was a munch and mingle so we partied afterward. :)

Now, I've got some crazy news. After 9.5 months (7 transfers and more than half my mission), I'm leaving the beloved land of Whitechapel! Serving in an area this long is wonderfully terrible. Wonderful because of the friendships you form and how well you know the area and are comfortable with it, but terrible because it makes goodbyes hard... But I'm not headed far! I'm off to the Hyde Park 1st ward with Sister Amanda Kerr from Mesa, Arizona. :) I'm so excited to see what the Lord has in store for me as I begin my last 12 weeks. :) The church is true everyone! I've really learned how God answers prayers, no matter how small they are. He is very aware of our needs and desires. I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve. :) Have a great week!

  1. I'll never forget the feeling when I took Moroni's challenge. Knowing that God lives, cares about me, and that the Book of Mormon is true, have been the touchstones of my life ever since. Just your presence can be a huge boost for an investigator used to being in darkness. Praying for you.
