Heyo! It's been a great week. :)
So on Monday, we started out with a lesson with our new
investigator, Stephen. He's the one that came into the VC last week. Our
miracle! Well this lesson wasn't a miracle haha.....we taught with Brother
Smith, and he was great! But Stephen was prepped as if he was anti, but instead
with Buddhist beliefs. He is really SO kind, but would hardly let us speak and
just wouldn't listen. It was a bit rough. But it was his daughter’s birthday,
and so we gave her a card, and that ended up going a long way! After our rough
lesson, we were sure we would drop him. Then he sent us a text thanking us for
the card and telling us how kind it was and how grateful he was. Then he called
us his "sisters and angels." It was so nice! And then he came to
church on Sunday. THAT was an adventure that I will write about in a minute.
Then that night, we had a lesson with another new investigator.
Brother Peterson came and we had a really great first lesson with him! He was
SO excited to get the Book of Mormon and to begin reading it. :)
Tuesday was one of the most insane days of my mission. So
first, we were supposed to have a lesson with Aleksander, but he didn't show
up, even after he called and said that he was on his way. So that was rough. So
then, we had a dinner appointment with Sister White and our recent convert,
Jane. But it was in the middle of our VC shift. So we switched things around a
bit so we could make it. The Britannia sisters covered for us for 2 hours while
we went. :) BUT on our way there, we took the wrong tube and ended up being way
late..so we quickly ate and then look at the time and had about 10 minutes to
make a 30 minute journey. Then Jane offered to call an Uber taxi to come get
us. So we called the ZL's to make sure it was okay, and got permission. BUT
Jane's phone was dead so she couldn't call. So we just walked down to the main
road to hail a taxi. (Dream come true for me!) Well, Jane's daughter, Angela,
was getting upset and crying, Sister Kerr was holding her toys, Jane was trying
to calm her down, and I was trying to hail the taxi. I'm sure we looked
hilarious. Every taxi that drove by was full, but then in the distance, we saw
a taxi coming, just on the other side of the road! So I ran across the road
with no warning, and waved him down. I felt pretty cool. :) Hahaaha and then we
loaded up and drove home! It was just a really comical situation, but I had a
lifelong dream of riding in a London Black Cab, fulfilled. So that was great!!
:) We were laughing the whole time, and taking pictures. The driver loved us.
:)
Basically, we don't have a lot of people o teach, and the ones that we do have,
aren't very solid. So we have found A LOT. So on Wednesday, we went into Acton
Town and dropped ff cookies to members, and found along the way. We talked to
this super nice Italian man, but he didn't speak a lot of English. He was super
nice though and we were able to set a return appointment. We will see him this
week! Then we also stopped this really nice Filippino man. And we ended up
siting down and talking with him for like 30 minutes. He's really interested!
We are teaching him this upcoming Wednesday and will see how it goes. :) THEN
on the tube ride home, Sister Kerr talked to the nicest lady from Iran, and set
a return appointment!! :)
Thursday we had district meeting, and that was great! Elder
Martin brought Girlscout cookies and they all tortured me by eating them.
#glutenfreeproblems. But it was still a lot of fun. Our district is the best!!
We also got a text from our
investigator we me on Monday that said "HI PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB ME. I DO
NOT BELIEVE IN THIS BOOK, ONLY THE BIBLE. God bless you!" It was.....sad.
Friday we had a lesson with Jane and we retaught the Plan of
Salvation. It was honestly a VERY powerful lesson. We also talked about the
temple and doing work for the dead. It was so great. :) Jane is amazing and I
love being able to work with her!!
Then that night, we went finding in Fulham and it was a
ROUGH finding night. We had people yell and run away from us, say rude things,
call us racist, and just rejection after rejection. It was so rough that we
ended up laughing hysterically and not being able to stop. But we've found that
the Lord really blesses us for trying our best. :)
Saturday, we had the VC meeting and Sister Griffeth and I
gave a training on the Special Witnesses exhibit. :) Then afterward, Sister
Kerr and I went.....that's right! Finding!! Haha but this time we wen to
Ravenscourt Park. We met this realllllly nice lady from Iran who we will see on
Saturday, and this other man named Rory who we will see sometime this week. :)
We also talked to some hilarious Polish men, and another evangelist. But then
that night, we had a miracle man come into the VC! Rolly, and he was in our
area and had traveled 30 minutes with the elders on the tube, just to come into
the VC. So he agreed to come to church. :) It was just proof to us that,
because we had been finding so much and trying our hardest, God would lead
people to us, and bless us with tender mercies. :)
Sunday was GREAT! Stephen came, and that was interesting. We
ended up trying to teach him lesson 1, but he wouldn't listen so we stopped. He
is still so nice, but we aren't going to actively try and meet with him. No one
else came, but we are going to keep trying. :) Also, Jane got called as ward
missionary!! So that is AWESOME! Then later, we had a goal of 7 new
investigators this week, and we were on 6. So we started calling all the PI's
in the phone, and the first one, wanted to meet with us! So we will see her on
Wednesday.
After church, we went to stop by our VC miracle, but he
didn't have a complete address. So we just started trying every flat D that we
could find haha! Then we saw these two kids and we asked them if they knew him,
and one of them goes "yeah, that's my uncle. He's at work though." So
crazy! So that was a tender mercy. :)
Well! Sorry that was pretty long. Just know that I
absolutely LOVE it here, and am so happy to be serving at this time! Love you
all!! :) The Gospel is true. :)
Xx
